Economic Update: Retail Sales
The Commerce Department reported that Retail Sales were down -0.5% in the month of June, which was well below with the consensus for +0.2%.
Prior month’s readings for comparison purposes:
When you strip out the sales of autos, sales were down -0.4%, which was below the consensus for a reading of +0.1% and last month’s level of -0.4%.
And when you take out autos and gasoline, sales were off by -0.2%.
