Update: The State of the Shopping Season
Today comScore reported that holiday e-commerce shopping is up +4% season-to-date,
comScore says that e-commerce spending for the first 43 days of the November-December holiday season has totaled nearly $21B. This represents a 4% increase versus last year.
More importantly, the season total is significantly ahead of its forecast (comScore had projected a 3% growth rate on a year-over-year basis).
The company adds that spending in the most recent week-ending December 14th reached $4.74B in spending, which is the heaviest online spending week on record.
