Economic Update: Retail Sales
Retail sales increased by +1.3% in November, which was well above the consensus expectations for a gain of +0.6%.
October’s results were revised a bit lower to a gain of +1.1% from +1.4%.
When you strip out the sale of autos, sales held up nicely as they increased by +1.2%, which was also the consensus for a gain of +0.4% and October’s revised unchanged reading.
And if you take out the sales of autos and gasoline, sales in November increased by a solid +0.6%, which was, again, above expectations for +0.2%.
