Economic Update: The Conference Board’s Employment Trends Index was up big in November
The Conference Board's Employment Trends Index rose 1.8% to 90.8 in November to its highest reading in nine months.
The move marked the fourth consecutive monthly increase and the 1.8% move up was the largest in four years.
Five of the eight components moved higher, led by initial jobless claims and temporary employees. The index is now 9.4% below its level a year ago,
After the surprising Jobs report from the Labor Department on Friday (a report that was openly questioned by many analysts), it is encouraging to see some corroborating evidence of improvement on the jobs front.
Stocks remain tied to the dollar moves today and are now lower in response to the dollar's afternoon rise.
