Looking Ahead to Wednesday's Market

by Don Moenning

Quick Recap of Monday’s Session:

Stocks finished narrowly mixed once again on Tuesday following another quiet session of trading. Neither the bears or the bulls seem to want to take control in front of a few high profile events over the next few weeks, starting with Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke’s speech in Jackson Hole on Friday. A weak Consumer Confidence Index reading did little to change prices as the day wore on. Trading was choppy throughout the session, and major indices finished the day mostly unchanged.

S&P 500 -0.08%, NASDAQ +0.13%, DJIA -0.17%, Midcaps -0.41%.

Looking Ahead to Wednessday:

  • Overnight we get Business Confidence from France, Consumer Confidence and Retail Sales from Italy, PPI from Greece, and CPI from Germany.
  • Before the bell here in the U.S. is Q2 GDP (first revision).
  • Shortly after the open is Pending Home Sales at 10:00am EST.
