Economic Update: Housing Starts and Building Permits
Housing Starts in July were reported at an annualized rate of 746K, which was down -1.1% from ’s reading and above the consensus for 738K.
The June number was revised lower to an annualized rate of 754K from 760K (May: 711K, April: 721K, March: 699K, February: 694K, January: 706K)
Building Permits for July rose to a rate of 812K in July. This is up 6.8% from June’s unrevised 760K and was above the consensus of 761K (May: 755, April: 723K, March: 769K, February: 747K, January: 682K).
