Economic Update: Housing Starts and Building Permits
Housing Starts in June were reported at an annualized rate of 760K, which was up +6.9% from May’s reading and above the consensus for 738K.
The May number was revised higher to an annualized rate of 711K from 708K (April: 721K, March: 699K, February: 694K, January: 706K)
Building Permits for May fell to a rate of 755K in June. This is down -3.7% from May’s revised 784K and was below the consensus of 763K (April: 723K, March: 769K, February: 747K, January: 682K).
