ADP Employment Report Shows 170K New Jobs in January

Economic Update: ADP Employment
ADP reported that the private sector job market expanded once again during the month of January.
The report shows that private sector jobs rose by 170K jobs during the month, which was below the consensus expectations for a gain of about 197K.
For comparison purposes:
- December: 292K (revised down from 325K)
- November: 206K
- October: 116K
- September: 116K
- August: 89K
- July: 109K
- June: 145K
- May: 38K
- April: 177K
- March: 201K
- February: 217K
- January 2011: +189K
As a reminder, the ADP report does not include jobs in the government sector.
Also remember that the all-important Nonfarm Payrolls report is due out Friday morning. Analysts are expecting an increase of 125K jobs.
