Europe Update: Italian Bond Auction Results
Rates continue to come down in the Eurozone’s embattled countries.
Italy sold €2.0 billion of 10-year bonds at an average yield of 6.08%, which was below the 6.98% seen at the previous auction. The bid to cover ratio was 1.42 vs. 1.36.
Italy also sold €3.6 billion of 5-year bonds at an average yield of 5.39%, also below the 6.47% at December’s auction. The bid to cover ratio was 1.22 vs. 1.42.
Bloomberg reports that European nations such as Italy, Spain and Belgium will sell no less than €22 billion worth of debt this week.
