Facebook Could File For IPO As Early As Next Week
According to sources familiar with the matter, Facebook Inc could file papers for an initial public offering as early as next Wednesday.
The social networking giant is expected to be valued between $75 billion - $100 billion, a figure that CNBC’s Julia Boorstin said her sources agree with, having cited the valuation at ~$80 billion.
Facebook is close to picking Morgan Stanley as the lead underwriter for its IPO, which would be a setback for rival Goldman Sachs. However, Goldman is still expected to play a "major role" in the offering.
Facebook is looking to raise as much as $10 billion in its IPO, which would rank fourth among U.S. companies behind Visa, General Motors, and AT&T.
Sources familiar with the matter said that Facebook executives are also considering filing a few weeks later, should the company not file on Wednesday.
