Europe Update: German IFO Business Climate Index
The IFO Business Climate Index in Germany for the month of January shows that business sentiment continues to increase despite the overhang of the ongoing sovereign debt crisis.
The IFO index was reported at 108.3, which was above the consensus estimate for 107.5 and the December reading of 107.3 (Nov: 106.6, Oct: 106.4, Sep: 17.5, August: 108.7, July: 112.9, June: 114.5).
The Current Conditions Index came in at 116.3, which was below the consensus for 116.8 and in line with last month’s reading of 116.7 (Nov: 116.7, Oct: 116.7, Sep: 117.9, August: 118.1, July: 121.4, June: 123.3).
The expectations component rose to 100.9 from 98.4
The IFO Business Climate Index is based on surveys of 7,000 companies.
