Economic Update: Housing Starts and Building Permits
Housing Starts fell -4.1 in December to an annualized rate of 657K. This was a bit below the consensus for 675K.
The November numbers were unchanged at 685K (Oct: 628, Sept: 658K, Aug: 572K, July: 601K, June: 613K, May: 549K).
Building Permits for December fell to a rate of 679K. This was above the consensus of 673K but below last month’s revised reading of 681K (Oct: 644K, Sept: 549K, Aug: 625K, July: 620K, June: 612K, May: 624K).
