Europe Update: Deposits at ECB Reach Another Record High
Deposits at the European Central Bank hit new highs again overnight. The central bank reports that more than €489.9 billion were put on reserve at the ECB.
The ongoing trend of banks placing excess reserves at the ECB as opposed to earning higher rates by lending to other banks via the inter-bank system illustrates the overall lack of confidence in the European banking system.
